Digital Engagement Survey Landing Page
Through ongoing work as part of the Councils Liveable Neighbourhood Pilot in Tyseley & Hay Mills, the Council has been successful in securing funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to explore the use of different digital tools to encourage better overall active engagement by local local residents in planning and regeneration projects. Particularly young people.
Birmingham is a diverse city but also a young city, with younger residents who are increasing technoligically savvy, but equally are who less likely to engage in traditional forms of engagement such as through standard surveys (like this one ironically!).
There is also a much wider acknowledgment these days of peoples neurodiversity and that some people are better suited to some types of engagement routes over others and like to express themselves in different ways.
This trend in less people completing traditional hard copy or online surveys is a consistent trend happening nationally over many years but the need for good quality information so that public services and spending is tarted where it is most needed and represent value for money remains the same.
We realise time is precious and nowadays we are all bombarded by digital info. All demand your attention which in modern life with its stress and strains leaves very little headspace to respond.
There is therefore a need for us to try and experiment with different ways of engaging with residents, which are less of a psychological burden, less of “a chore”, are interesting, creative and meet people where they are most likely to engage and communicate, such as through social media channels.
Engage with our test of the Liveable Neighbourhoods Connected Chat!
Through this pilot funding has been obtained from the UKSPF Fund to do just this and in this first trial phase we have developed/are developing a proof-of-concept WhatsApp style functionality tool framed around a series of conversations on key liveable neighbourhood themes. We really want residents to engage with this over the next few weeks up to the 31st March 2025 to compare if residents find it easier and better engage through a tool like this in comparison to Beheard Surveys so would really encourage you in the 1st instance to take part and engage with this
